Themes for Prestashop 1.5.4.1 (1.5.4) can be downloaded from here now.

If you are using a theme designed for PrestaShop 1.5.4.0 or older (downloaded from here or other sites), you may still be able to run your store but older bugs may still exist on your site.

Therefore, if you are running PrestaShop 1.5.4.1, it is important that you use a theme that is specifically created for PrestaShop 1.5.4.1.

You can see your PrestaShop version in your store’s admin or back office area — at the bottom left corner of the footer:

PrestaShop 1.5.4.1 contains many fixes and improvements to version 1.5.4.0. For example, these were fixed for the front end: login issue, some CSS bugs, tax display, Javascript errors, product images, and many more.

There are many other fixes to the back end and core files. If you want to see the full changelog, please visit PrestaShop.com official site.

How to use the Home text editor module

Since the first version of PrestaShop 1.5, a slideshow module is included, and the Home text editor is not installed by default anymore.

First, you need to install the Home text editor module:
Admin > Modules > Home text editor > install

After it is installed, click the Configure link:Admin > Modules > Home text editor > Configure

Now, edit as you like. You can put in a welcome message, or news, or information regarding your store.

When the Home text editor is first installed, it may not be at the right position. It may be located below the Featured Products area. Just use the Live Edit feature to drag the Home text editor to the top of the centre column.
Admin > Modules > Positions > click the Live Edit button at the right

How to change PrestaShop module position with Live Edit

Live Edit is a relatively new feature in PrestaShop. You can use it to change the position of modules on your store. The alternative and older method is to use the admin area instead.

Make sure you are using updated version of your web browser, and Javascript is enabled on your browser (Javascript should already be enabled in your web browser by default though).

To use Live Edit, log in to your admin area:
Admin > Modules > Positions > click the Live Edit button on the right

How to clear PrestaShop cache manually

PrestaShop uses Smarty language for its templating system. A lot of the theme file contents are kept in Smarty cache folder.

Sometimes, when you are editing files or enabling or disabling modules, the content of your website does not show the latest changes.

Here is one example from the latest PrestaShop 1.5.4 version: If you enable the Wishlist block, a link will be shown at the footer block. But when you disable the Wishlist block, the link remains there. This is because PrestaShop is still showing the cached content and not the latest changes made by you.
